Needs Statements:

  1. Mary (pilot): Mary, a private pilot, needs a way to reduce flight planning so she can enjoy flying more.
  2. Louise (right-seat pilot): Louise, a private “right-seat pilot,” needs a way to get more information about the destinations so she enjoys them more

Big ideas for Louise’s Needs Statement (see “sketches” below):

a. Website or (free for AOPA clients) App for her phone

b. Information Booth at airport(s)

c. Booklet of services (with discount coupons!) free for AOPA clients/members

d. Call Centre (see details at bottom of post)

e. Billboards (along runway/road)/Signage at airport(s) advertising services:

Big idea (selected one) explained:

Call Centre:

Louise and other right-seat pilots and pilots who are clients/members of AOPA can phone the call centre (staffed with local area experts, paid and/or volunteers – perhaps pilots in training) an unlimited amount of time , 24/7, while flying or not, give their ID # and password and speak live to a call centre rep and ask questions about the airport and its surroundings.

This will also function work over their radio/headset, on a separate (from the airport(s) landing control tower/air traffic controllers), safe frequency, in case they don’t have cell phone signal while flying, to be used on a more time-limited basis to avoid distractions/filling up the airwaves.
